MLK Dream Weekend
2011 Objectives
- Provide the hope that dreamers need to take action on their dreams.
- Create opportunities to recognize individuals who have taken their dreams and turned them into actions, inspiring others to do the same.
- Enable a community of dreamers to share their desire to take action in a public forum to continue change.
- Pay tribute to Coretta Scott King by recognizing a local female with the Coretta Scott King Dream Keeper Award.
- Pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., by recognizing a local male with the MLK Dream Keeper Award.
- Encourage the dreamers of our community to pursue their dreams with the courage of changing the future.
- Celebrate the diversity of the communities in which we live.
- Award local, deserving youth with college scholarships.
- Establish a community where “dreams become actions” for the purpose of creating the following opportunities:
- Networking
- Accountability
- Coaching
- Encouragement and Inspiration
- Support
- Resources for Dream Fulfillment
