While the MLK Dream Weekend Diversity Banquet is an elegant event that features a top of the line speaker, the most powerful facet is seeing the many people from various communities come together in celebration of Dr. King’s vision. Minister Eddie Young, MLK Dream Weekend Community Outreach Chair

Dr King’s legacy lives on… if we never stop dreaming.

Ten years ago the Upstate of Greenville was the last county in South Carolina to ratify the MLK holiday.  This birthed a dream in the hearts of local leaders to take the beliefs and principles of MLK and build on them.  Hence, the MLK Dream Weekend was born.

For the past 10 years, this weekend has brought hundreds of local businesses, leaders, and the young and old from our community together for a common goal…to honor the memory and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In 2015, as we celebrate the 10th anniversary of MLK Dream Weekend, it is an honor to know our communities have been strengthened and that the Upstate has given back through thousands of volunteer hours and provided almost $500,000 in scholarships to support the dreams of our youth.

As the above quote says… “Dr. King’s legacy lives on… if we never stop dreaming” – and that is our challenge to you, dream of unity, dream to innovate, dream to be creative, and dream to bring continuous change!

Thank you Greenville for your amazing support over the past 10 years!
